Following the cryptosporidium outbreak in 2024, a pot of £250,000 has been made available by South West Water for a Legacy Project within the town. Along with the town council we are deciding how best to spend this money.

We have a number of important criteria to consider:

  • It should be a project, or projects, which benefit as many residents and visitors to the town as possible.
  • There is a relatively short timescale to complete this project(s) which rules out certain slower proposals.
  • There needs to be a clear plan for funding any ongoing maintenance or operational costs.
  • It must complement the Brixham town centre and fish market improvement projects already being undertaken, and being planned for the next five years, by Torbay Council.

Over the last six months we’ve heard various proposals from within the business community, residents, town councillors, not-for-profit organisations. There is still time to propose a suitable project, please get in touch with us if you have a fantastic idea.

During summer 2025 we will draw up a shortlist with rough costings and aim to make a decision on which project(s) to deliver by early autumn.
