Open Meeting – 24th June, 7pm, Berry Head Hotel

Join us for our latest open meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 24th June at the Berry Head Hotel where we will be focusing on the following:

• The Salt Path: With the cinemas full of beautiful views of our coastline thanks to the new film starring Gillian Anderson, we are delighted to welcome Sarah from the South West Coast Path Association to tell us about the hard work they do to maintain and promote the path. 
• Suicide Prevention: On 30th September Torbay will be one of the locations around the UK for the Baton of Hope, a national charity aiming to raise the profile of suicide prevention. The route will take it around Torbay including a Brixham route from the rugby club, via Berry Head, to the harbour where it will be taken across the water back to Torquay. Local community builder & radio presenter David Gledhill will be sharing his story and introducing the charity to members.
• Partners Against Crime: For our traders within the town, crime and anti-social behaviour are sadly an everyday worry. Our PCC Alison Hernandez is championing a national scheme for traders to collaborate to combat crime within the town via a scheme called UKPAC. It is being offered for free until April (usually £20/month). A representative from our local police force will be coming to the meeting to present the scheme to members.
• Shoalstone Repairs: This summer our much-loved seawater pool will be undergoing some major repair work. Operations Manager Dave Thomas will be updating us on the planned work and the next steps for securing the pool’s future.
• TV advertising for Brixham & the wider region: Earlier this month the ERBID launched their second major campaign of the year, including TV advertising and billboards in targeted regions around the country. These are aimed at the couples market and use a lot of imagery of Brixham. As well as the adverts, there is a large databank of imagery and videos which can be used by all local businesses to promote our own venues. This was all funded by the South West Water money, as a result of the work we and the ERBID did to prove the impact on tourism last year. The ERBID officers aren’t available for this meeting but we will be updating members on this latest campaign and how to get the images and videos.
• Member Update: This month we will be hearing from one of our newer members, Leah who runs Solmaz Marketing, digital marketing experts.
